Digital Citizenship

 

Digital citizenship refers to the every individual who have access to the technology.it also refers to the responsible ,ethical and safe usage of  technology by consumers. It involves understanding how to use technology in a right way, how to communicate effectively with other users on technology, and to protect our privacy and information from scam and cyber bullying. Digital citizenship deals with various aspects such as respecting other user, using technology to enhance business and contributing to our community by providing right and updated information. it also involve being able to navigate the digital world and able to use technology in a right way.

As a teacher we should be a role model for everyone. The first step to become a good teacher is to be a good citizenship of a country, as a teacher we should know what are digital rights and responsibilities. we can provide authentic and updated information to our society , respect every different individual in a society by treating everyone as a one and regardless of background beliefs and opinions.

As a teacher, I  can carry out digital citizenship rights and responsibilities in a community by teaching digital citizenship lessons into my curriculum to educate. Modelling positive behavior by demonstrating positive online behavior by respecting others privacy and being mindful of my digital footprint. Addressing cyberbullying in community by promoting empathy and kindness , and providing support to the people who are victims of cyberbullying .

As a model teacher, I can promote digital citizenship rights and responsibilities by fostering digital literacy that will help students develop the skills to critically evaluate online transformation ,identify misinformation and navigate the digital world effectively . Promoting online safety by teaching students about online safety practices, such as strong passwords, identifying phishing attempts and being cautions about sharing personal information online.

I being born in this digital native world and being part of this generation is both ban and boon because I have seen many things happening around the world with todays generation kids and myself being active citizenship in this generation is a engaging one. I have recently watched a video about a girl who has faced cyber bully doing her most important stage of her life , I have felt bad for her and if I get a chance to find a solution I would love to create awareness and forma a group to help those people facing cyber bullying.

As I have told earlier that I am very active in digital world, I have seen myself getting lazy day by day and due to excessive use to smart phone I sometime get headache and my eyes hurt too. I personally think that I should minimize  using smart phones and get used with communicating people face to face rather than online.

Not only me but I guess everyone of you have noticed from 2 years old only child using smart phones. I agree with our tutor Mr. Thinley Dorji that a small child used smart phones to eat food and while sleeping too they used. Most of them watch YouTube which I think it has many bad effects such as health issues, wastage of time and money. 

Thus, I feel its high time that we create awareness and use the technology efficiently.
