Middle level if ICT integration

Mastering PhET 

Today class has been interesting and fun where we were introduce to a new evolving tool class PhET simulation . PhET is a educational tool which provide fun , free , interactive research -based science and mathematics simulations. I enjoyed this tool because we get to experience real world application

 in a virtual world and there is no risk in the classroom as all the application is carry out in virtual .PhET simulation can be one of the best teaching tools that a teacher can used I think it can play aimportant role in middle level of ICT integration as it can be used in introducing the topic and to develop lesson planning to meet the learning areas .

Today in my ICT class I got to learn about the electricity and current flow using PhET simulation . At first it was difficult but as I did more and more I was able to explore and used it . 

In my lesson plan, I will be using PhET to teach mathematics concept called number comparing  through using number compare tool for class 1

lesson plan 

Topic : Comparing Numbers                                                                                 class : 1

Duration : 20 minutes 

Objectives 

By the end of the lesson , each student should be able to 

1.Differentiate greater ,smaller and equal to correctly after teachers introduction of the topic 

2.Write down correctly numbers from 1 - 10 after teachers lesson

3.Analyze which number is greater and smaller correctly after activity design by teacher using PhET . 

lesson Introduction 

Begin by reviewing the concept of numbers and than teach what is meant by greater and smaller . explain by drawing the sign on the board .

Activity 1 : distribute number cards to students and in a pair they will carry out this activity where they will compare each others numbers . ( greater, smaller or equal ) 

Have a few pair demonstrate  their comparison to the class .

Lesson Development 

I will draw three sign and explain what they are for .

Activity 2 

student will be divided into groups and then they will be provided with chart papers and a markers each in a group . They will be given 3 minutes to draw and cut the sign ( greater ,smaller and equal ).

After that they will present their work to the whole class .

Follow up Activity : 

Student will use the PhET simulation to solve the following questions . student will compare the art and then solve which is greater, smaller and equal .

 

Lesson Closure 

Review the concept of comparing numbers and ensure that my students understand how to use the symbols correctly . assign a homework to solve from textbook.
